I have been asked a few times recently about how often urls are monitored using ichanged lite. At this time it is a cycle of around 15 to 20 mins and has a download limit of 1mb of HTML data.

I will be providing a better turnaround of the checks in the premium version.

With the iPad pre-ordering due to start at some time on Monday, a lot of people are going to be interested in getting in early because demand may indeed outstrip supply.

A FREE iphone app, iChanged Lite can be used to send you a notification message as soon as the iPad UK page changes to prompt you to get in there to order it quickly.

3) Close the app and wait to hear from the app via Push Notification

A new app to monitor changes in web pages has been released and best of all - its a free download!

iChanged Lite allows up to 3 web pages to be monitored. Once a change has been found to the page, a Push Notification will be sent to your iPhone/Ipod Touch/IPad.

I've been busy working on a commuting app for the IPhone. Its in review for the App Store now. It allows push notifications to be sent to tell commuters of their train being late or cancelled. It also has a handy compensation checking tool built into the app.

twitter and trends

Getting into this whole twitter thing properly now. We have a business twitter now for london weather with more cities to follow. i find it interesting that short term trends tend to make more of an impact using twitter than other media.

For example, Google is always behind due to its spider reactive nature. msn is for chatting away and not really spreading a topic for the masses. blogging is great - if you have the foot fall. twitter ia in its element as philip scofield found with the "That's my hedge" trend that took the uk by storm last week and brought twitter into the homes via Good Morning. So heres the thing. twitter is so simple quick and reaches people on mass via a different means than other methodologies. This can prove to (in the right way) form a good basis for product (re)launches and all kinds of merketing strategies.

Ok, it appears that the Twitter phenonemon has finally landed in the UK, thanks partly to Chris Moyles, Wossy and Stephen Fry. There are some fantastically easy ways to update Twitter programmatically using PHP 5 which are available in any standard Google search or be creative and do your own using a CURL form post.
